64 bit OS?

does anyone know when a 64 bit OS will come out? i don't think Windows Longhorn is 64 bit is it? i want to know how long it will be before we will be able to take advantage of the AMD 64.

Seems to me there's 64 bit versions of XP and Server 2K3 out there - bring cash. I know there's 64 bit Linux.

Longhorn will be 64bit, with backwards (to 32 bit) compatibility. Wait until 2005 or so, unless you've got reams of cash to spend on the hardware.

To really take advantage of 64-bit hardware, you need 64-bit software. A 64-bit OS is nice, but without software an OS is pointless. It will take some time for software to be rewritten to take advantage of the new hardware.
