Hi and welcome to PC Mech
system resources usually refers to programs that are running currently on your computer, whether you're actually working with them or they are in the "background". To see what you currently have running on your computer (if you have Windows), hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and it should pop up a window that will list what's taking up most of your resources. By the way, please list your system specs so we can help you better in the future! Good luck

I broke it down too far, I suppose. I was saying that different programs use up most of the resources you mention. Based upon the member stating that he had 38% free, I suggested he look at what programs are running to free up resources. Seeing that it was his 2nd post, I didn't get into details. My apologies for any confusion guys!

Resources in this context are operating system "heaps", nothing whatsoever to do with hardware. NT-based operating systems (2K, XP) do not use resources, they use physical ram and the pagefile. Resource management has been a sore spot since the days of Windows 3.x and is now a thing of the past, ME was the last OS that used them.
The most common reason for low resources is too much junk in the windows startup. You can use msconfig to get rid of what you don't need. |
