Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader
Hi all,
I need both of these products installed on a machine. However, I need Acrobat Reader associated with opening .PDF files through the browser (not Acrobat). When you install Acrobat first and then Reader, it still opens them with Acrobat (I was hoping reader would overwrite the settings). Changing the file association didn't help. Is there anyway I can configure Internet Explorer to open up .PDF files in Acrobat Reader instead of Acrobat, while still keeping both programs installed? Thanks in advance. |

I pulled this off the Adobe forum:
Q - How do I get Acrobat Reader to launch instead of Adobe Acrobat (or vice-versa)? A - The only work around is to launch the application you want to use before viewing the PDF file. You can keep Reader minimized and whenever a PDF is double-clicked on your hard-drive or through the browser, it will use Reader to open it. Obviously this isn't my answer, but I tell you it makes me like a giver instead of a taker finally for being able to give a couple guys like you two a little help for once. |

I tried it with Acrobat 5 and Reader 6 and it worked fine for me.
