OE takes a looooooong time to load
Ever since I have a system lockup (winXP Pro SP1a) with OE6 open, it always takes a few minutes to open up when ever I open it. Are there fixes for it, or should I try reinstalling it. Come to think of it, doesn't it come with the O/S?

stylin19, that's a fix for 98 with IE5.x
Yes, messenger is gone and has been gone since the initial installation of the O/S. |

I asked about MSM because when you uninstall it, OE always takes slightly longer to start up, since it looks for it. Happened to me before.

ok.I have XP Home and the messenger reg hack fixed my slow OE problem.
actually, that link to that section contained 5 possible problems/solutions for slow OE. 4 are generic to OE IE5 is the core for IE6 and is identified as IE5 in your registry. you might do a system restore to a restore point prior to the crash. good luck and happy hunting |

This crash happened about 2 weeks ago, and I was too busy to fix it at that time, so system restore, for me, is not a good option. I install and change things too much.
I tested the loading time for OE before and after the removal of messenger, and it didn't seem affected at all. I believe I did remove it from the registry as well. |

Hi there ,
use this START > RUN > type CMD - enter then Type SFC - enter or you can directly type SFC /SCANNOW - enter This should help - you have to make sure that you have the Original Window Xp either Home or Pro version ready when asked.. Hpro

Well, I've got a slight problem. I only have the XP pro CD, not XP Pro SP1, which is what this scan feature is looking for. Since I downloaded the SP from MS and installed it in that fashion, rather than with a CD, what else can you suggest?
