So, thats where its coming from. This PC I'm working on is my sons, that I got from the hopital I work for. It's an old IBM PC thats got an old Pentium 166 MHz CPU, and a 1.9 GB HDD. I'm trying to add a 10.2 GB Maxtor HDD as a slave. IF any one can help I would appreciate it. thanks thorlo6

You will probably need to use Maxblast to install it or set the cylinder limitation jumper to limit it to 8.4gb unless you want to buy a Promise controller card.

your best option is to use maxblast as glc says its quick and free you can download it from http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/dow.../maxblast3.htm

Many, many thanks to glc and andyms18a. you have both just saved me hours if not days of trying to find maxblast. I had just gone online to ask Maxtor where I could get a copy of Maxblast, when I decided to check my email first. That's when I read the responses I had gotten from you two. once again I say, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Now I can add his HDD to his computer. Later guys. thorlo6
