smokin Office 97 Keycode question

If this software is already installed on your machine, is there a way to find out the keycode if you've lost it?

Thanks in advance...

This is kind of on the risky side of discussions here, but I have also seen quite a few of these posts lately. I will answer it just as others have, you can use belarc advisor to find out your systems information.

Belarc will read out the actual license code for Office 97 but that's not the same as the CD key code that has to be entered during installation (this is for retail packages that use a XXXX-XXXXXXX key code, I don't know about OEM). The keycode is translated to a license code as part of the install. The license code is also available in Help - About in any of the modules.

You could try regedit HKLocalMachine, software. microsoft and the package name. Some store the key there, some store the product code there, and some store both there.
And if you find it, write it on your CD so you don't have to go thru the search again.
Some forums consider this information as a precursor to software piracy. I believe that anybody that has spent the money to purchase a package deserves to know where to find the information so they can reinstall it in case they lose the paperwork that came with the CD.

Actually, there is a universal code (may there are several of them) that will install ANY Office 97 product. I posted it on this forum several years ago and got scolded.
