Outlook express address book deleted

Hi everyone:

I just came home from college, and the other day I set up outlook express with another identity so I could check my email too. For some reason, this spontaneously deleted the entire windows address book. My mom almost killed me this morning. Luckily, I was able to recover it from a backup I made a few months ago, or I wouldn't be physically capable of typing right now.

What in the world happened? All I've done is defrag the thing and set up a new identity. Oh yeah, after setting up the new identity, outlook 2000 gave me a bunch of crap because it went ahead and made itself the default mail handler (even though I told it not to). I looked there to see if the address book had been converted to an outlook address book, but it was empty also.

Thanks!

If her address book was gone when you reverted OE to her identity, it was still on the harddrive. The trick is to find it and import it back into her identity.

Do a search of the harddrive for "*.wab" (without the quotes). When you find hers, open OE, go to File>Import, browse to the location of her wab file and import it.
