programs crashing!!!!

I have finally got my box going. I have 2000 Pro loaded...
Any time I l use an application or try to play a game the app. will close and exit to windows. Usally the error will say ( CRC. error )
Or this program has generated errors, and must close...

I have spent more time than I should have installing OS.

Is it a drivers conflict or does it sound like I will need to start over?

My Specs:
Case-----------Alien aspire full tower
MB------------- Gigabyte8k11np
cpu-------------P4 2.4
Video card----Ati 9800 XT
Sound card---Sound audigy 2 ZS
Memory--------Four 512 american patiriot
drives----------Wd 120\pioneer dvd\pioneer cdrom\

the reason force flow put the cross post link was to help you as its hard for us tec types to keep track of all the posts so some one may give the same fix on each post or we can not see what has bean tried all ready

now for your problem the first thing to try is shutdown the computer and removing all but one of the memory sticks then reboot and test if it works OK shutdown and add another stick and test again keep going till you find a dud stick or post back if it still happens with only one stick (swap it just in case its the dud ) all so how have you jumpered and set the hard drive and CD DVD drives and which IDE connectors are they on and what cables are you using ?
