The most reliable source for the information is your Bios.
This is a free program I found. http://www.webattack.com/get/mbm.html |

The best thing to do is not to install any Temp monitoring software, unless your computer is acting up with heat related symptoms, such as re-booting or locking up.
What will happen if you install these worthless software based programs is the following. 1. You will see that your computer is running somewhere between 35 and 60 degrees C. 2. You will then make on a post on the forum asking if your CPU is running too hot. The tone of this post will be based upon your total knowledge of this subject and your ability to relate degrees C to Degrees F. So your post will be panic if you know nothing to slight panic if you know a little more. (If you are knowledgable you would have fixed the problem or you have realized that there is no problem) 3. You will get answers that range from "My God you need to do something to get those temps down." (Usually written by the unknowing) to It's an AMD, what did you expect. You should have bought an Intel. (posted by the Intel crowd that don't realize that theiir CPUs are operating at the same temps) Finally, you will get answers from people like myself who will tell you that you do not have a problem and not to worry. BUt you will no longer believe me since you now are under the impression that your computer is fixing to burn-up. 4. By now you will believe anything you read. SO you will remove the case sides (Last thing you want to do since the cases are air ducts designed to flow air around the CPU) or you will strat installing fan after fan until you cannot hear. Finally this will lead you to the point that you will be checking temps every couple of minutes and wondering what you can do next. |

I agree with morris for that is the usual responses I typically see posted here and on other forums (not as good as PCMech's
). The person who got me into building computers once said to me "Don't worry about your temperatures unless your computer is acting up on you. You won't have any problems as long as you put some kind of thermal protection/heatsink on you CPU" - That in my opinion is good advice, of course at first I didn't pay attention to it . The best place to see your temperatures is in the BIOS if you are having any problems. Heck one computer that I built for my father didn't even have a temperature check in the BIOS (Can't remember the Intel's motherboard model), but heck it has been working fine since day one.
