Disk Defragmenter
I use it every so often and people tell me to use it but what does it actuallly do??

I do not use it very often eather
but to answere you question when one adds and removes programs on a regular bases it will cause some programs,files to get fragmented, or placed on the hard drive at any space that is open, so you end up going to several differant plasec for files that a program need to run. by defrafmenting the drive, the files are placed in proper order for the program they belong to and filling in the open spaces, this is just a simple way to explane it, it is only a problem when the drive is highly fragmented, it will slow the system down a bit. |

In layman's terms, imagine a file cabinet with many folders. If everything is arranged properly in the correct file, when you need an item you can find it faster. If everything is all out of place, you know the item is there somewhere in the cabinet, but it now takes longer to find it. Picture your hard drive as the file cabinet.
