Try expanding the window, hold down the shift key and close the window by clicking on the big red X

Drag the window to full size, then hold down the shift key and close the window. Or try Start/Programs/right click on Internet Explorer, go to properties and select "Maximized" by the run selection, then Apply and ok.

EDIT: I'm to slow for the young Slayer this morning, force_flow beat me to it.
