Question Burning a DVD with Nero

I want to drag and drop everything from my VIDEO_TS folder into the VIDEO_TS folder on Nero. In my folder (created by Pinnacle) there is an Anchor file and a Volume file. Those are not allowed by Nero to go into its VIDEO_TS folder. Nero does automatically create an AUDIO_TS folder. Do those go in there? in the root directory of the DVD? in the trash?
Thx.

All that goes into the VIDEO_TS folder are *.vob, *.ifo and *.bup files. That's it for a video DVD. Dunno about Anchor and Volume files, I've never had them, but they're not needed for a video dvd. If the Pinnacle program created real video dvd files then the dvd will work without them.

RJ, I knew you'd come thru for me! I guess those two files are just app. specific for Pinnacle then. Out of curiousity, do you know the reason for the AUDIO_TS folder in the Nero DVD-burning rom?

It's said that the presence of the AUDIO_TS folder would increase the compatiblity. . there seem to be a few players that won't play a video DVD without the AUDIO_TS folder. Although I've seen a few commercial DVDs without that folder, it doesn't hurt to add it. Most commercial DVDs include that folder, too. It's always empty for a video DVD, it's only used for an audio DVD.

Thanks for the clarification; DVD burn completed successfully! I think then this is the way to go to store past creations. Just keep the VIDEO_TS folder if ever I need to make other copies, right? Thanks again.

Yep. Just keep the contents of the video_ts folder. Every burning software that can handle the data correctly will be able to burn a compatible video dvd out of them.

Enjoy your DVDs

I think I spoke too soon... The disc I burned with Nero is choppy on my computer, and it barely plays on my set top player. I've burned four other DVDs so far (all of Pinnacle Studio 8 creations, burned with Pinnacle). Two of the four would not work at all, one works on my new comp but nowhere else, and one works perfectly everywhere... The one that works was actually on a +R disc that came free with my drive. The others have all been burned on Memorex -R, including the one done w/ Nero. Is it possible to have that many poor quality media in a row, or is there some other issue at work here?

edit: I have a first generation Sony 5-disc DVD changer on my TV. It doesn't even mention RW media in its docs. Even tho -R media is supposed to be slightly better for video, is it possible that the +R media fooled my old player, while the -R just won't work on it?

I have had the best results with Verbatim+R discs. Fujifilm and Memorex have been spotty at best. I've also had the best results with ULead DVD Factory or Sonic MYDVD.

Well, since I only use DVD+ I can't say anything about your DVD- problem, but if the DVD+R works, just stick with it. I never had any problems with DVD+, just use that instead of DVD- and don't worry about DVD- again.
All DVD+Rs I have are made by Ricoh or Verbatim.

I took the two most recent burns to Wal-Mart and 'borrowed' one of their new players, and both discs worked perfectly. The weird part is that one would work play choppily and the other would not at all on my old 5-disc changer, the choppy one was also choppy on my new comp while the other played fine, and neither would work on the DVD player on my old comp...

So it's really more a player compatibility issue, I guess. I'm still confused as to why the one won't play on this new comp that burned it...

Gonna burn same projects onto +R and see how the changer takes them.
