Updating my Drive image

I used Norton ghost to image my primary hard drive to a secondary hard drive about a year ago. I need to update it at this time. Will Norton recognize what I am trying to do and suggest that it only update the changed portions? Or should I delete and reformat the previous on my secondary hard drive? thanks in advance for your help and happy new year!

Did you copy the drive or just image it? If you just imaged it, delete the old image and make a new one. I image my HD every month in this way.

What does Norton Ghost do?

I didn't realize that there were two options. All I know is I have an exact copy of my previous drive on my secondary hard drive using Norton ghost.

Yes, there are two options. You just copied one partition to another. Ghost also allows you to create an image file of the drive, which is just like any other file. It can be compressed and is generally easier to work with when you are using Ghost for backups.

Since you copied the drive, I would format it to prepare for ghosting.

Question

i am curious about the image thing as i use norton often to copy my entire hdd including any programs or system upgrades.
my copying consists of booting from ghost floppy to copy from local to local hdd's.

is there more options and where does that menu come up?

it's been so long since i made the ghost floppy, was there more options in the windows program of ghost??

and does that work better than copying in pcdos as far as registry files etc are concerned?

also, since i ghost floppy copy my slave drive whenever i feel the need to backup all system and program upgrades, is it really necessary to format to erase the old backup data as norton overwrites all the data?
