Question How can I convert a set of floppies to a CD

Hi guys - anyone out there who can help with this strange request?

I have a bunch of 15 (3½ inch) floppies of an original VB install set (version4) & I want to create a bootable CD from these 15 floppies.

Is there a utility that I need to buy/download?
- OR -
Can you tell me if this is do-able & how?

Question

if you want to create a bootable cd, using a cdrw or cd burner as they're called, format a floppy with the sys option will install the files necessary to startup the pc in dos mode. whether you expect windows to load or not is another story

copying this floppy to a burn session onto a cd should do it.
copying the rest of your floppys can be added as well.

how well it will work as for what you're trying to accomplish, i don't know but this kind of answers your question.

of course, your pc will need the bios to be set to boot from cdrom before the hdd for this to work at all. [common setting nowadays and usually adjustable in the bios as well.

Okay thanks - good tips on creating a bootable CD, I use Nero which can create bootable disks when burnt.

I guess what I am trying to find out is more about is burning a number of install floppy disks (orignal floppies that came with an application designed for installation from the floppies) all together onto a CD. Then hoping that I can run the burnt CD, so that the application installation will install from the CD and that instead of asking for each floppy the installation will run directly from the burnt CD.

I had been expecting that I would have to pick up some sort of utility to do this, therefore I am looking for some ideas?
Any other thoughts anyone?

This might be difficult seeing how the install program is keyed for the floppy changing. You may need to play with the installer itself, possibly even completly rewriting it.

I think I still have my copy of VB4 enterprise CD around here somewhere. I'll have to look......
