Hey, I hope I'm writing in the right forum:
I'm having trouble installing Half-Life : Counter-Strike. I searched around for an answer but it was very limited. I went to my retail store and bought the version that looks like this. It was 29.99. I got it installed and I got as far as filtering and chosing games. When I chose a game (in my case, only CS games), it won't let me play! It said something like "different protocol version" or something. The box doesn't seem to say the version but it has a copyright Sierra 1998~2002 (two years ago). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, kram

Never mind - it worked after downloading a patch from Counter-Strike's website. I was playing CS 1.4 on servers that were 1.5 and 1.6 (smart move :-p).
Thanks anyways. kram |

Sry - I still need help with running games on this laptop in general -
I've been playing games, specifically CS and when I upload to a server, it automatically shuts me out of CS! It's not an invalid CD Key or anything because I bought it from the store - what some people did. I believe this'll happen with any game I play. Can someone help me? I think I need to find my startup files somewhere on my computer to see if there is some file out there that is making my laptop do this - but I'm not quite sure where startup is either, on WinXP Pro. Thanks, kram |

If it's chucking you out of the game as soon as you get past the server stage (and into the game proper) it could be graphics driver problems
Check manufacturer's site or Windows Update for details Thanks, Jim |

I'll see to that - my laptop graphics card isn't exactly up to par with the days, neither is my internet connection (wirleless DSL apparently gets you a very high ping
). I'll check and see what's up with graphics if that were to be the case. Thanks, kram |
