The two most popular recommendations here and all over the web are Spybot -Search and Destroy in combination with Lavasoft's Adaware. You can get both from the same place.

Try running both spybot and adaware. Together, they usually catch everything. You may also want to run a virus scan. AVG is a good, free one.

By any chance, do you have kazaa installed? If you do, I would get rid of it and try to get ahold of kazaalite.

If you don't have one already, a firewall may be in order. Sygate personal firewall is a good free one.

Many have said that Kazaa is loaded with spyware, but Kazaa Lite is pretty clean. May be a good idea to switch.

don't you have to pay for kazaa lite though? I only use kazaa for the peer points and the occasional hard to get song.
also when i find a bunch of spy ware stuff how do i get rid of them?

Note that spybot and/or adaware will rip apart the full version of kazaa.

No. You would have to reinstall it because the spyware removers take out the spyware, and kazaa won't load without it.

Yes, kazaalite is free. Dunno how available it is now, though. Seems to be worth it's weight in gold since it doesn't have the spyware.

It would probably be best for your computer to get rid of kazaa. Seems to cause a number of problems on the computers I've seen it on.

Kazaa lite is now pretty much illegal, they got sued by who ever makes kazaa, and even if you have it already the download speed is horrible compared to other p2p software. I just switched over to eMule and it works pretty good.

There only sueing people that distribute the program. But I read that in the latest version of Kazaa they installed something that will kill of connections to people useing k-lite. Thats why I switched over to eMule, the downloads are alot faster.
