System Lagging when burning cd's

Let me give yo umy specs first before we go into the prob
Windows XP HOME
P 4 2.53 GHZ, 1 GIG Ram, 500 Gigs HD Space

Ok this is whats bugging me, after I burn a few cd's my system starts to lag badly. I go into task manager and nothing is eating up memory what so ever however when I click on performance its at 100%. Now I can burn 5,10, 20 cd's in a row with now problems but then all of a sudden the whole system lags and the pc usgae goes to 100%. I have been using the same TDK media for weeks and have had no problems. I havn't installed anything recently and it has just started to not work. Now once i reset my pc everything goes back to normal. I have checked for Viruses with norton and the latests updates and nothing also I have no adaware or spyware on my pc....so what the heck....It burns fine for a few cd then lags and when i reset the pc it works fine again. Any ideas??

its a 52X cd burner so i dunno what the heck its doing, no matter what program i use the system runs fine burning cd's but after a few cd's it lags. After the cd is finished burning the system goes back to normal....please help! The system has been running smoothly for months and i havnt upgraded anything or installed anything new...so what could it be??
