Arcsoft Photo Impression...

Having a problem with Arcsoft Photo Impression. It worked flawlessly on our box until recently when it throws up an error "Twain error, the scanner might not be connected" when trying to acquire pics from my daughter's cams (Vivitar Vivicam 10) and my Canon Powershot A70.

Have uninstalled/reinstalled Photo Impression several times. The same with the camera drivers. Photo Impression works fine on my laptop (Win 2K) but not on the home PC (XP Pro).

-Yes I've tried different USB ports
-Yes I've tried different USB cables
-Yes I've downloaded/installed the latest camera drivers from both Vivitar and Canon.
-No, Arcsoft's online help hasn't been any.

Any ideas out there?

Did you try a System Restore to a restore point just before the twain errors? (this is assuming it's the XP Pro box with the twain trouble)

Also, if it's on an XP Pro machine, does the detailed error message in the Event Logs help to pinpoint anything? You should find an error under either System Log or Application Log.

I've used ArcSoft on several Win98 machines & it's usually OK, but it's been so long since I've set it up the details are pretty foggy. A nice little program, but once I moved up to PhotoShop Elements, there was no looking back. For ArcSoft, I'm wondering if the device has to be re-setup each time a driver changes. . . .
