In the windows 2000 command prompt, how do i make it recognize a path with spaces in the title, e.g. c:\program files\microsoft office

Hi KlumpDud,

Haven't seen ya in a while. Never ran 2K, but it may be like other versioin where you have to quotes 'round the path. Won't hurt to try

hey TwoRails,

Must be because my computer's been working so well.

Anyway, i found out that there are two versions of the command prompt in 2k and xp.

the first version, which you open up by going to start>programs>accessories>command prompt, simulates the old dos in that it can't have file names longer than 8 characters and so program files would look like PROGRA~1

the second version, which you open up by going to start>run and typing cmd.exe, allows longer file names with spaces.

Lucky you!! LOL -- Seems like I've been fighting them more than using them lately...

Glad to hear you figured out your problem!
