Software for checking OS

Hi , all. Is there a free software that can check for OS related problems eg missing Win.files, drivers etc ? I know u can use Norton Utilities to check these but is there any free software around ?

system file checker click start run and type sfc for windows 95/98/me if you have xp then click start run and type cmd then in the dos box type sfc /scannow allso with xp you dont need to keep a check on the system files as it dose it for you and will replace any damaged or changed files automaticly

as for drivers the best one is dxdiag start run dxdiag
