Someone told me that you could see the cd key of the cd installer in DOS mode. Supposing I only have the cd with me and nothings written on it, upon installation ofcourse it will ask for a series of numbers and letters or the cd-key.How do I get it in the DOS mode?

welcome to pcmech.
the best way to solve the problem is to call the mfg and explain that you lost the key and need a new one. other than that there is no way to do what your asking. what is the software that you need the key for ? and is it the orignal or a copy of the orignal? |

Whomever told you that was referring to the CDKEY that is stored on the machine during the install of the OS.
Ususal storage place for use in installation is the COA booklet, the CD case, or on later machines, on a sticker placed on the machine. There may be software companies that store a CDKEY on the CD, but I've never run across one. This would make duplication more expensive and more prone to failure. |
