As long as your system matches up with the demo requirements (picky about drivers, it seems) - you could try downloading a more recent version of the Windows Installer.

You can also look at the links: http://www.appdeploy.com/faq/detail.asp?id=77
http://www.appdeploy.com/faq/detail.asp?id=76

Seems to happen from "in use" files at times too
"1603 The file [2][3] is being held in use by the following process: Name: [4], Id: [5], Window Title: ''[6]''." (from the same website as the above links)

If you used a "download manager" while downloading that 500mb file, try disabling it and doing the download with just one stream.

SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS:

Minimum:

Computer: 1 GHz CPU
Memory: 256 MB RAM
Operating System: Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP
Video Card: Geforce 4 MX, Geforce 3 or higher
Drive Space: 582Mb hard drive space
DirectX 9.0b must be installed
Nvidia based cards must have : ForceWare drivers 53.03
ATI based cards must have: Catalyst drivers 3.9
Recommended:

Computer: 2 GHz CPU
Memory: 512 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0b must be installed
Nvidia based cards must have : ForceWare drivers 53.03
ATI based cards must have: Catalyst drivers 3.9

See if any of this helps
