Linux and Windows on same hard disk.

I am very new to Linux, now I want to learn Red Hat Linux, I want to install Windows XP( using NTFS ) first, then Linux on a new 80G hard disk, But I have no ideas of how to do the work, I only have experiences of installing Windows (first use Windows fdisk, then window format, then CD-ROM START and windows files copy etc. ) I need some introductions or references about the installation.

Thanks for any help.

no problem , should be very simple.
first boot from the xp cd and install it on a 40 gig partition, xp will do this all for you.
second boot from the red hat cd and install it on the remaining free space, linux will do all this for you, just follow the instructions.
third enjoy the dual booting of xp and linux.

Send a message via Yahoo to scracker
First, you need to partition your hard drive, meaning making rooms for both Windows and Linux. To do this, you need Partition Magic, downloaded from www.powerquest.com
After you are done with this, we'll move on to the next step.

IS Partition Magic similar to the linux patition tools such as fips, disk druid, fdisk?

If I install Windows XP FIRST , should I run Partition Magic first rather than the Linux partition tools? For I wonder if Windows XP can see drives partitioned by the Linux partition tools.

Partition Magic is not needed, Bailey's method works fine.
