Voice Rec?

Is there any programs out there that can utilize a Mic? Like if I were to say "Computer, open IE" could it do it? I'm just curious, and since I'm considering getting a laptop soon this would be useful.

Voice recognition software relys heavely on you teaching the program the characteristics of your voice. They will over time open and close programs, type for you, and so on. But the one's I've used are just more hassle than they are worth. Although for the handicapped, they can be invaluable.

I have Dragon Naturally Speaking 5.0 and I have to say I am very impressed with it. After only two training sessions it is almost 100% accurate. It is much faster than typing on a keyboard. Dragon will also open programs and do just about anything you can do with a mouse and keyboard. I was going to print out all the commands but after the first page cme out saying "Page 1 out of 230" I hit cancel. Dragon is the way to go if you want voice recognition.
