Recovery Disc and Lost Data
I hope I'm posting this in the right place but anyway --
If someone uses a system recovery disc to restore their computer to the original state, is ALL of their old data destroyed or can it somehow be retrieved if that area of the disk wasn't written over? A woman at the office where I "work" told me that her husband used the disk because they were having trouble with the computer and he didn't know what else to do -- so he pulled out the handy dandy disc without thinking about the consequences. It also hurts that they never back up their data. She is distraught that some pictures of her (now deceased) mother are now gone for good. Is there some way to get it back? |

Check out File Scavenger, for data recovery it depends what system and format the data was on FAT or NTFS.

Thanks, those are great links. It's too bad she left her office for the day, otherwise, I would have told her that there's still some hope.
Thanks again. |
