computer going down the tiolet
I made a post of this problem before, but i have yet to resolve the problem. When i try to open a file on my computer (particularly a document file) the computer automatically without warning reboots...every single time. Windows error message is saying my problem has something to do with my drivers. Well device manager didnt show any driver problems, but without any other ideas, i started uninstalling and reinstalling stuff. Well Ive uninstalled and reinstalled half of my system, and the only thing thats changed is my graphics look messed up becausei havnt fully reinstalled my graphics drivers yet.
I really need to resolve this problem, its stopping me from being able to do any schoolwork. |

Boot up into safe mode and perform a virus scan.

Try opening a document while in Safe Mode.
Try removing all but one stick of RAM. If the computer still run unstable, swap out the RAM with another one. Test all your sticks of RAM. Try disconnecting the second hard drive.  Cricket

i tried opening a document in safe mode, and it works fine no problems, ill try the memory and HD things asap.

ok it seems so far that unplugging my second HD, a WD 80 gig 7200 rpm 2 mb cache, fixed the issues. Any idea why its giving me problems, and what i can do to fix it so i can still use the HD.

Plug the second HDD in again to see if the problem continues. If it does, maybe it could be a cable? My assumption is that you're accessing the file from HDD #1, not the second hard drive that you unplugged... Is this correct?

yes correct, the 2nd HD that i unplugged has nothing on it, completely empty.

Have you tried attaching it again to see if there are any issues then?
