I have Britannica (2003 edition I think), and it's very good. It's helped me out on many history timelines and maps. It has almost all the info I need. But I'm sure they will have a new version out soon, if not already.

encarta does everyhting i need, but on the other hand i havnt really used much of any other one so i dont know if its the best.
