Just installed Norton Ghost 2003. I'm trying to ghost my C: drive to a USB2 drive. When Ghost boots into PC-DOS it detects the USB drive just fine but, I get the following error message:
bad or missing command interpreter. At which point I can do nothing but reboot. When I try to boot straight from a floppy I get the following error messages: Host Adapter @ port address 340 failed diagnostics Host Adapter @ port address 140 failed diagnostics ASPI4DOS.sys installation failed ASPI8DOS.sys installation failed ASPI2DOS.sys installation failed Then Ghost boots up just fine but the only drive it will detect is the USB drive. Relevant hardware specs (This is a new comp I've only had for a week): XP Pro w/SP1 fully updated Abit NF7-S drivers updated boot drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus ATA100 120gb USB drive - Western Digital Caviar 120gb in generic USB2 case Originally I had the Seagate hooked up to a SATA adapter that came with the mobo. Figured maybe Ghost doesn't recognize SATA drives yet, so I switched back to the regular IDE channel and reinstalled Ghost for good measure. Still nothing. I have checked and updated all my drivers, run Symantec LiveUpdate, uninstalled/reinstalled Ghost completely. Neither the manual nor Symantec's website says anything about this. Ghost.radified.com is no help either. So, basically, I've tried everything I can think of and I'm about at the end of my rope. I wanted a drive imaging prog and Ghost seemed like the best of a questionable bunch. Now I'm beginning to feel like I've wasted my money. I'm also starting to worry that my boot sector might be corrupted, though my comp is running fine except for Ghost. Someone help please. Last edited by arglebargle; 02-12-2004 at 09:19 AM. |
