Outlook Express stores its data in dbx files; inbox.dbx, sent items.dbx, etc.
The default store folder in XP for OE is C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express. "GUID" refers to a long, alphanumeric folder name which is different on every system. For example, on my XP computer there are several such folders with GUIDs of {DB7901B3-716A-4ABE-AAC0-622196593C1D}, {B81840D4-1844-4D89-A307-5402BFC1B327}, {DB7901B3-716A-4ABE-AAC0-622196593C1D} and {F48060E2-A1C3-4D8F-BF90-12AFB13051EB}. I don't see any pattern in them. Once you do get things back up and running, change OE's store folder to a folder you make in your My Documents folder. It makes backups much easier. |
