Codecs not working
After I install codecs, they don't work. In fact, none of my media players work to play video files that have been encoded with anything else except .wmv. The only way I can play files is with VideoLAN which has bad seeking.
I am using Windows XP |

What codec are you trying to install? What codec does the video file require?

I get this error message (see attached)
The file requires DivX 5.11 (latest) which I have installed. Normally, media player would install the proper codec required and all would be well. However, I don't get what this error message means, even after installing various codecs and packs. |

Thanx for the suggestion, but after trying the whole folder (entire series of anime) I think its not just corrupted files.
Somewhere on this forum was mentioned that various codec packs can cause problems. I installed the Nimo Codec Pack before, and uninstalled it. Will that cause any problems? |

I use the k-lite codec pack and have never have never had any problems. http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/
And here is the divx 5.1.1 codec itself, http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX511Bundle.exe If those don't help you might try uninstalling windows media player and the reinstalling it from windows update. |
