No menu or tool bars on Photo draw
I have unistalled and unistalled Photodraw many times and each time I am missing the menu bar and tool bar. I went to help and it said to push F10 to make these bars visible but nothing happens. I am running WN XP home ed. This has never happened before and I can't seem to restore the menu and tool bars. Any ideas what to do????

When PhotoDraw opens, can you see a View menu on the main toolbar? If so, can you place a checkmark next to the "Visual Menu" item & see if that helps?
If you haven't changed much else other than reinstalling PhotoDraw, you also have the option to try the System Restore feature built into WinXP. Details are in the Help and Support menus. [this would only work if PhotoDraw uses a Registry value to control this option] Best of luck . . . Gary |

How did you get to PhotoDraw Help without a toolbar? Did you access it from a separate icon/shortcut?
I know you've probably checked this already, but when you pressed F10 to show the menus, did you make sure the ShiftLock key wasn't active? When you installed the program the first time, did you use XP's Compatibility feature? . . . Gary |

If you mean Scroll Lock - no it wasn't active. Yes I tried the compatibility features -- all of them and I still have no menu or tool bars.

Did you try using the Compatibility Wizard when you reinstalled the program? (or only afterwards?) If you haven't tried that angle yet, try it (right-click on the Setup.exe or whatever executable Photodraw uses to install with, and choose Compatiblity...)
If you've already tried this, we may have to hope either a Photodraw user will see this and know an answer, or I'll find something on my next visit to the PhotoDraw support webpages. . . . Gary |

Yes, I tried the compatability wizard and it didn't work. I finally spoke to a Microsoft tech rep and after 4 hours he finally said that Photodraw is incompatible with WIN XP and sent me a knowledge base article describing this.

Sorry I didn't see that article when I was checking around. I knew it had been discontinued, but I hadn't heard it was incompatible. I didn't see much information for Photodraw on the Microsoft sites, which surprised me: even with discontinued products, they usually still have lots of helpful info.
On the photo side of life, though: PhotoShop Elements is available on sale usually for about $50 (USD). Doesn't have all the tools the full PhotoShop has, but it does have just about anything the average user will ever need. And it has the same amazing PhotoShop quality. Best of luck . . . Gary |
