A script is simply a collection of actions or commands that run one after another; an example is a DOS batch file. Scripts can do many things and are seen pretty much everywhere, from logon scripts to scripts on the Internet. Just like there are lots of different programming languages, there are different scripting languages: Perl, PHP, Javascript, and so on.
