Nero not working
I installed nero on my laptop and I'm trying to burn a disk from an iso file. I have 2 problems and there probably related. First, nero doesn't detect my cd-rw drive's speed. And when I go to burn from the iso it just makes a copy of the file on my hdd as a nrg file. I've burner over 100 disk's useing nero and I've never had this problem before. The drive is a SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SN-324 DVD:8x, CD:24x/10x/24x

Where did you get the NERO disk? Is it one that came with another CD-RW Drive? If so it may only work with the drive it came with, in which case it will not show the CD-RW Drive and will only burn to the HD. If it is a universal copy then it may be the Samsung drive that is the problem. I have seen Samsung drives that came with retail computers that needed firmware upgrades to work with other programs.

I just tried deepburner and it detects the speed as 0x. I looked on the Samsung site and I could only find information on SN-324b and there were no updates for it. Someone told me that XP can burn cd's, can it burn ISO's?

XP has a built-in burning program which is basically EZ-CD. Just uninstall the NEro and then put a disk in the drive and see if XP brings up a box automatically. You may also want to do a Windows Update to get the latest file updates, as Combo Drives are pretty new and most will need an update to be recognized.

Blue_Gundam2002 > JUst found this freeware burning program and your drive is listed as being compatable with it. So try it and if you are still having problems then the drive itsself may be te problem.

I finaly found the problem, I never updated nero. I just thought about that today, and went to the ahead site and updated from 5.5.9.15 to 5.5.10.56 and it works perfectly.

LOL You did exactly what I did, I was just abouts to suggest that. I thought I'd done it, but inserted the CD for my old burner instead of my new one.
