Mozilla on multiple computers
I have 3 computers that I use, one is a file server, another is a laptop, and then my main computer. Is there anyway that I can install maozilla on the server, and be able to use it on my other computers so that I that I don't have to copy over the e-mail and bookmark files whenever I change them on one of the other computers.

Not sure if this will work or not, but if you share the profile folder of Mozilla on your main computer over your network with the other 2 computers, and tell Mozilla on the other 2 computers to use it, you may be able to do so.

How would I tell Mozilla to use the profile?

Open Mozilla, from the menubar select Tools > Switch Profile, then select Manage Profiles, click on Create New Profile and then Choose Folder.
When I tried this between 2 Linux computers it worked, I only had to change some paths in the Preferences and make them relative (Mail and Cache), when I tried to share the folder with a Windows box, weird things happened, like the toolbars disappearing, I couldn't find a way to fix it, looks like some files in the profile folder aren't portable or something. Another *much* easier way to share emails between computers is to create an email account in Mozilla's email client on each computer, then, from the email client menubar go to Edit > Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings, then select Server settings for every account, and change the local folder to the one shared on the main computer, they both should have the same name. As for the bookmarks, I'm still looking for an easy way to do it, I'll post if I find one. HTH |
