Lots of great little freeware utilities at this guy's website. I really like his Index Maker. I use it to catalog my MP3 collection which is over 60GB. The index is HTML and as such each song becomes a clickable link.

Just a note: WinAce and WinRAR are shareware. Although they really don't time out, they just nag and nag and nag...

Also, PGP is no longer freeware. They have changed PGP to PGP Personal Desktop and it is now $50.

Not true. You can download PGP Freeware and use it for noncommercial use: http://www.pgp.com/products/freeware.html

Locate 3.0 Alpha

Quote:
Locate saves names of all files in your hard drives to file database. After that you can locate files. Very fast. This program works like updatedb and locate in Unix systems. Win32 based locating program also included.
this is very handy on my system being i have alot of space... When i used the windows built in search to search all my harddrives it takes about 1 min. with this the results are instant.

Yes its Alpha but i have never encountered any problems. And you dont install it just unzip it.. so if you dont like it just delete it.

But it's pretty crippled:
PGP Freeware product capabilities/limitations:
  • * Does not include PGP Disk
    * Does not include automatic encryption of email file attachments
    * Does not provide plug-in integration with Outlook, Outlook Express, or other email applications on any platform
    * Does not operate with PGP Admin or other PGP deployment tools

For encrypting/signing e-mail and files, it works just fine. Integration with e-mail programs would be nice, but the sign/encrypt current window function does the exact same thing.

EFS makes PGP disk pretty redundant anyway.

I haven't noticed any adware in pop up stopper. Spybot and AdAware haven't picked any up either....what have you seen in there?

I'm not positive on this. I think the newer versions of PopUpStopper, the one that had the yellow hand for an icon, might have adware. I have the older version, with the red x icon, and it is ad free.
