pop ups

there is a setting within the windows that can be accessed to stop pop ups, i have accessed it before but lost the info. recently during a yahoo up date the program or what ever it is was lost and i need to find it again. can you tell me how to restart that? Thank you Julie and Lou

I think what you want to do is to disable the messenger service, go to Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services, look for Messenger, double click it, stop the service and put it in disabled mode.

If you mean web popups, then there is no way in Internet Explorer to disable them, you either need to install 3rd party software like Google toolbar, or use another browser like Mozilla or Opera.

I would install Mozilla or Opera for the pop up blocking, because usually a third party pop up stopper will cause you problems; atleast a program called pop up stopper on my AMD box(dead now) caused memory leaks.

Just installl the Google toolbar. It does not cause any problems and it only runs when IE is running which saves resources.
