Programming movies to play at selected times & dates
I am in a Continuing Care Retirement Community. We would like to broadcast, on our closed circuit TV, various dvd recordings which we have stored on a computer.
We are looking for software that would allow us to play selected recordings at specifice times and dates. Any help in getting information for doing this would be greatly appreciated. |

I'm assuming these are DVD movies. You'd better check the licensing agreement on those movies - they in no way to be re-broadcast - even on CCTV. It's mentioned in that FBI warning screen.
I hate to be a party pooper as it were, but that's what the laws have always been regarding movies regardless of format - VHS, laserdisc, DVD, anything. Even if the retirement home owns the movies, technically they cannot be viewed in this way. You can show them in one room on one screen (ie..a movie night). But a CCTV broadcast would be against the license. Dave.

We will be broadcasting in-house dvds that we have made with our in-house video/audio equipment Thanks, anyhow for the heads up. Still looking for the answer on how to broadcast at scheduled times and dates. |

Depends on how much you'd like to spend. There are broadcast programs from Avid that will do what you want, it's over kill, but they'll do it. Beyond that, most of what I've seen is proprietary from installation companies. Large A/V installs used to be my primary function in life, let me call some of my suppliers and see what I can come up with.

Dave, thank you for your response! I will check Avid to see if what they have is any where near what our meager budget will allow.
In the mean time I certainly appreciate the help you have given and look forward to any further information you may obtain. Harold S. |
