MS Word features

Hi,
in the MS Word say i have written a text of 2 pages and at some point i make some changes in the first page. One of the changes is to increase the space between some lines and paragraphs using the ENTER. I noticed that the next page, page number 2, is affected, the text in this page has been pushed down, a third page may be created.
The same story happens with the Backspace button.

Is there any way to avoid that? i.e. working on one page without affecting other pages?

Regards,
Star-Com.

Only if you insert a page break (referred to as a "hard" break) at the top of each page you don't want affected. It's the blank lines at the bottom of each page overflowing onto the next causing the problem. You can the delete the extra blank lines, and have each page the height you want.

When i am in MS Word, New Document, i go to Insert-Break-Page break, i press OK but it doesn't work. Please elaborate a bit on how to do it.

Send a message via Yahoo to pillainp
Just go to the point in the document where you want to start a new page and click there. Then press CTRL+ENTER. If you have your view set to Print Layout (Page Layout in older versions of Word), you will see that the text beyond that point has been moved to the beginning of a new page.

Hello,
in MS Word documents several words are underlined by a kind of zig-zag line.

I think that it has to do something with Spelling checking.

How can i get rid of all these zig-zag lines in one shot and how one word at a time?

Thanks.

Run through the spell checker, and ignore any you don't want to change... once it's been checked, the zig zags disappear. They don't show up when you print them anyways

Another way to do this is is to make a one cell table. You can make the cell any size you like. You can type in this cell and it will not effect the text on other pages- or even text on the same page that is not in the cell. I use this technique all the time when I make forms.

OK it works the way you say but one word at a time.

Is it possible to get rid of all these zig-zag lines in one shot?

Thank you for your reply.

You can't correct all the problems at once- but you can turn off the spell and grammar checkers so that the lines do not show up at all.

In Word, go to Tools>Options>Spelling and Grammar tab and configure the it the way you want by unchecking/checking the appropriate boxes. Be sure to click OK when done so the changes will be saved.

Go ahead and poke around in all the tabs in the Options window to see what sort of options there are...for future reference.

Yeah... also, look in the Help file provided
I've found it useful in the past, and though I haven't checked I think it should address all these easily

You can turn off the spell and grammar checker for a single document by going to - Tools>Language>Set Language and then check the 'Turn Off" box
