anyone know how to back up emails in pegassus?

What do you mean by back up?A other folder in the program where you can save them or outside the program?

friend's pegasus is not working. he wants to do this from outside the program.

Mail subfolder in the Pmail folder, just copy the whole thing. Usually a broken Pegasus will come back to life by just reinstalling over the top.
