DVD authoring software

OK, i am looking for some decent DVD authoring software.

Here is what I am doing.

I am backing up some mpg movies to DVD format. I already have the mpgs on my hard drive. I have been trying to burn them to DVD with characters, menus, etc.

the problem is, when played they start out OK, but the audio/video become out of sync with each other.

I have been trying the Ulead DVD factory 3, but believe I need a better program. Any recommendations?

I haven't upgrade to version 3 from 2 yet, but it doesn't / hasn't lost sync for me. Not trying to be funny, but have you played your mpgs to make sure they don't have a problem?

DVD-Lab: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html

This is as professional a package as I've seen but at a fraction of the cost. In our studio we've gone from Scenarist (http://www.sonic.com/products/scenarist/default.asp) to DVDMaestro (http://www.spruce-tech.com/products/dvdmaestro.html) and now to DVD-Lab. Scenarist was the defacto standard on the professional side of the industry. Then DVDMaestro came along - not much in terms of service from Spruce Technologies, but a great product in every other sense. Then Craig found DVD-Lab - until that point he had done all the DVD authoring because I never had the patience to work with DVDMaestro (much less Scenarist). Well, with Craig being out of the game per say as he recovers, I'm left to tend the shop - and DVD-Lab has made my life so much easier. And in all honesty, we both feel our final product is as good or even better than what we got from the other two products.

TwoRail, Yes I have played them many times on my PC with no video/audio sync loss. I almost missed it on the DVDs because I made one DVD with 5 clips, each clip complete with chapters, and I had tested and made sure it played. I then made 2 more DVDs and was loving it.

I left one of the DVDs playing while getting ready for work and noticed the video/audio didn't seem right, was about 30 minutes into the feature. I then checked them all, they all started OK but the deeper into the feature the more messed up they got.

I am using the demo of Ulead factory 3, I was about to buy it but now I am not sure.

Earlier tonight I made a disc to test, just picked one of my MPGs, about 450 meg no chapters, no title screen, just plain as possible and it did the same thing.

Thanks for the info, I will give DVD lab a shoot.

May have just found the problem. However I dont' know what to do for it.

DVDlab ask me if the file was wrongly named, wondering if the audio was AC3 I believe.

So the problem maybe my files, not converting correctly to dvd format.

Any ideas?

I can't go back to an eariler source, the mpg files are the only ones I have.

Movie Factory 1 - 3 doesn't handle AC3, but Movie Factory 3 Disk Creator does. Which version did you D/L ??
