Get an error window in Windows XP. Which is title bar, DDE Server WIndow. In the box which has a cancel, try again and a contine buttion in the box is excel.exe-no disk there is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive \device\hardisk2\dr8. I get at random times the only time I wrote it down just started computer and tried to open an excel file. Which opened normally after I hit retry. Any help appricated, it has gone from annoying to bothering me.

DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) is Windows data transfer application. Some application or service is calling for it to run.
Do a Cntrl Alt Del to view the Task Manager. See what programs are running. You may be able to identify the activating program. I would also do a search on the Microsoft Data Base -- they have extensive, free FAQ's on most everything. Sorry, that's all I know about it. |
