Download & Installation
Hello,
Q1. Can you please explain in simple words the Download & Installation processes? What does the computer actually do in each one? Q2. Setup and installation is the same thing, right? Q3. Suppose i download a game and save it in a folder called 'Downloads', then install it. Can i then, after installation, transfer the files of this game to a new folder (using copy & paste) called say, 'Games' without any conflicts or other problems? Note : OS MS Windows XP Pro Star-Com. Q1- Downloading is getting a file from another PC onto your PC usually over your internet connection, hence the term downloading a file. All your basically doing is transferring a copy of a file from a remote PC to your PC.
Q2- Then to setup and install you usually just go to wherever you saved that file and click on it and they are ususlly designed to start and go thru the setup and install process automatically with perhaps a few user choices from U. Q3- No once you have installed it you need to leave it alone, but it is during the install process if it asks you where you want to install it you can choose something different than the default location, but you can just install it with all the default settings and in the specified default location, and still put a shortcut to the actual game in your games folder..

Hello and thanks for the reply. Could you please clarify a couple of things? Q1.Setup and Install refer to the same process? Q2. From reply in Q3 above : ...install it with all the default settings and in the specified default location, and still put a shortcut to the actual game in your games folder.. How can i put a shortcut under the circumstances described above? Thanks, Star-Com. |

Think of setup and install as the same thing but really when you install something, anything, to actually make it work you have to include setting it up, like any appliance you install it by setting up all the proper connections and settings, So actually the way I think of it is install is the overall big picture of putting somethin in somewhere and setup is actually doing all the settings and/or connections to actually make it work, but really most use the two words interchangably..
