Change temporary download folder
Greetings, I need to change my temporary download folder from my C: drive to my D: drive. Is it as simple as moving it or do I use this in conjunction: http://www.theeldergeek.com/specify_..._directory.htm ?
I'm using Windows XP and basically I'm running out of drive space on my C: drive and I want to dowload a large file to my D: drive but the temporary folder is on the C: drive. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited by megatron11; 03-23-2004 at 11:59 PM. |

You can move the default download folder anywhere you want. The way that is described on your link will work.

You don't even have to change the default - you can save it to wherever you want. The problem comes in when you are downloading with IE, it needs adequate space available in the Temporary Internet Files folder. That you can move using Internet Options - Temporary Internet Files - Settings - Move Folder. Make sure the TIF's are deleted and you have given them enough space before you start the download.
The other option, of course, is use an alternative browser or a FTP client. Might be time to look at moving some data files off C - and/or making the partition larger. |
