Transfer Software?

Stuipid question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I have EXCEL and WORD installed on a comp I want to rebuild/reformat. I want to transfer these programs over to the new comp I built-- How do I do this?

I have the product key but not the orignial disk.

I have tried to use Files and Setting Transfer Wizard, but that never works correctly as the programs when transfered to the new comp never open for some reason. They just come up as invalid files.

Please help a newbie

Thanks

EDIT:
Sorry, I thought you wanted to transfer Word files, not Word itself, in this case, you need the CD.

----------------------

Are you going to keep the same hard disk? In this case copy the files to a partition other than Windows', you only need to format Windows partition.

Otherwise:

Do you have a CD burner? A floppy drive? Are you planning on creating a network between the two comps?

You can use any of these to transfer the files.

And you can always email them to yourself, and receive the email on the new computer.

Just some options I can think of.

If you can borrow a disk identical to the one you lost...Office or Works or whatever it was...you can use it to install Word and Excel. It's perfectly legal so long as you use your own product key.

Try OPEN OFFICE It's a FREE office suite that's bi-directional compatible with Microsoft Office. That means it can read and edit MS files and create them. It's compatible with Word, Excel, and Power Point. It works.
