Photoshop xp or 98se?
this may be a dumb question, but given that XP takes up more resources, would it be better to run adobe photoshop 6.0 on windows 98se instead of windows xp?

Depends on your machine. What are your system specs.
I'd would run it in XP, actually I'd run anything on XP rather than 98, as it is more stable. I had lots of problems in W98 where if I opened another app, say Winamp, sometimes PS crashed, yes, after several unsaved changes.

Windows 98 is terrible at memory management. You will have much less crashes and such with XP. With 512M of RAM, you will be okay depending on what you are doing with PS.

I'd personally run it on Win2K - it's got the stability of XP without all the excess baggage.
