help with outlook

after i reinstalled xp and installed office xp right after and i go to open outlook 2002 the one that came with office, and the startup was slow.

specs.
mobo: Asus P4SGL-MX
cpu: Pentium 4 2.4 533 fsb
ram: PC2100 256mb

now i just notice that all my email software does that, on startup its like trying to access the internet because the network icon i have on my taskbar is active when i open it

In Outlook > Tools > Options
Uncheck anything referring to MSN Messenger
