dualboot xp/98 IRQ help
I just got a new dell computer with xp. I partitioned the drive so I can have 98se and XP... it all turned out fine... but the reason I wanted 98se was only for games, but that's the problem.
In XP I have no problem, but when i go to 98 I get this, "Display adapter conflics w/another device on your system. Cannot fine any free input/output range" So I guess it cannot find an irq??? What can I do to solve this problem, and why does it have to be the display adaptor with a problem, It could have been anything else and I wouldn't have cared! |

you need to have 98 installed and working before you install xp for dual booting
doing it any other way will only cause many problems and not work correctly |

I did install 98se first. I tried it again and even before I install XP it gives me the same problem.

Did you look in the 98 device manager and see what is conflicting with the video? Possibly you can disable the offending device or reassign IRQ.

I can't tell what device is conflicting with the display adapter. I tried disabling some but it doesn't seem to work. How would I go about reassigning irq?

No, input/output range is not IRQ. You need to install the Intel chipset drivers.
What model Dell is this? Try these: ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-suppo...nfinst_enu.exe |
