RealOne - Reference to Necessary Adware

Hey,
Basically, I'm kinda worried about my WinXP Pro laptop. I installed RealONE player about a year ago, and it hasn't been working very quickly since. I hear from this thread that RealOne installs Adware as necessary component of the program, but I kinda find that hard to believe. Is there a way to remove it, possibly without any manual fiddeling of the registry?

Thanks,
kram

Uninstall Real One, do a full cleanup, then install Real Player 8 Basic.

Yes, RealOne comes complete with Real Networks' spyware but RealOne alone shouldn't be creating a noticeable slowdown. It probably has help from other spyware.

To address the spyware problem, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.

Don't skip the update step every time you run either of the above programs. Make Running them once a week a part of your computer maintenance.

Then, to be doubly sure, download and run CWShredder.

Actually, being slightly paradnoid already, I had Adaware and Spybot S&D for at least an year now, and it has been doing well. You are right about updating - I haven't done it yet since I got it installed I just did it with Adaware and am doing to do it with Spybot S/D.

Also, thanks glc, for that link. I'll be sure to reinstall Real Player as Real Player 8.

Thanks,
kram
