but that is how it works, it reads the dvd to the hard drive first then it will write it to the blank dvd disk,
you can chose to save it to the hd too but why would you want to, it would be a large file

But thanks for the imput and any suggestions on how I set the program to copy to HD

no, not at the moment, I would have to read the instructions to find out and can't do that right now.
probly the best way to do it would to just play it and record it to the hard drive at the same time with a video capture card

Another solution would to use DVDShrink and put them (DVD) on the harddrive, DVDShrink 3.X will Decrypt the DVD movies for you also. I think (Not 100% positive) that you'll need somekind of burning program to put it back onto dvd.

After you make the copy with XCopy, do NOT close out the program. Go to where the file is saved. Open the file. Copy the "VIDEO_TS" file to another folder.

Or try any number of other good ripping programs, such as FairUse, DVD Decrypter, DVDx, Smartripper...

Send a message via AIM to Doobie Send a message via Yahoo to Doobie
DVD Decrypter can make an ISO of the dvd then you would just need to use a program like alcohol 120% to load the image onto a virtual drive.

DVD SHrink from doom9.org is not only free but does everything you want, including allowing you to re-author the DVD.
