good, generic cd burning software?
hey guys
can any of you please tell me if there are any decent shareware or freeware cd ripping/burning utilities out there? every time i've gotten a cd-rw drive over the past few years, each one comes with some different software that i learn & then get used to & then eventually have to change when my new drive comes bundled with some other software. my first cd-rw, a h-p, came with "easy cd creator". the one in this pc came with ahead nero. the one in my new build has roxio. for uniformity, i'd like to put the same software on both my computers, but am unsure as to whether or not you can use a given software package with a drive other than the one it came bundled with (i think the h-p software wouldn't recognize any other cd-rw drives). i'd like to get something that can do both music and data cd's and support packet-writing. any advice? thanks! |

I use Drag and Drop for my WinXP laptop. It works fine - I'd recommend it (it comes as OEM at stores online, I think).

I've seen OEM versions of Nero 6 that will work with any drive online for under $10. It doesn't get any better than this.

I bought my $10 version at www.softwareoutlet.com, I think. It is just Nero6Express rather than the full burning rom, but it does the trick. It also comes with InCD4 for treating RW discs as writable drives.

I love my Nero, wouldn't give it up for the world, and it came with my burner
I reckon it's worth the extravagant :P amount ($10) you're going to pay for it... but if not, burn4free is the one most people recommend to me There's a freeware post on this site where it lists this kind of thing I believe, have class now so I can't find it for you |
